Kyrie fue número uno en los ochentas, el album de Mr. Mister "Welcome to the real world salió a la luz en 1985, fue en marzo de 1986 cuando alcanzó el número uno en Billboard hot 100 manteniéndose por dos semanas.

Sobre el origen de la canción, Kyrie es el caso vocativo del sustantivo griego κύριος (kyrios: «señor») y significa «¡Oh Señor!». Eleison, en griego ἐλέησον, es imperativo del verbo ἐλεέω "compadecerse". Transliterado al latín, es el nombre común de una importante oración de la liturgia cristiana, también denominada Kyrie eleison («Señor, ten piedad»). Interesante, ¿No lo creen?
